Volunteer Opportunities

Giving back is at the heart of what makes the Independence Community an extraordinary place for our students. We have many different volunteer opportunities and encourage all members of our community, including current parents, grandparents, alumni and former parents, to join us.

Opportunities exist for volunteers at many of the activities and events sponsored by the school and the Independence Parents’ Association (IPA), including lunch delivery, Field Day, the auction & gala and the Indy 5K & 1-Mile Color Us Kids Run. Additionally, we welcome you to volunteer as classroom helpers, homeroom parents and chaperones for class field trips.

Whether you have just an hour to spare or lots of time, we can find a volunteer opportunity that is right for you and will directly benefit our students. We welcome your participation and thank you in advance for helping us to strengthen our Independence Community.

"As an alumna and new parent to Independence, I've grown to love giving back to INDY through volunteer time. It's so rewarding to spend time making a difference in the space where our children learn. The energy is contagious. I leave each time feeling like I made a real difference. As a bonus, I get to see the smiles on our children's faces as they proudly see the work we do."
