Giving back is at the heart of what makes the Independence Community an extraordinary place for our students. We have many different volunteer opportunities and encourage all members of our community, including current parents, grandparents, alumni and former parents, to join us.
Opportunities exist for volunteers at many of the activities and events sponsored by the school and the Independence Parents’ Association (IPA), including lunch delivery, Field Day and the Indy 5K run. Additionally, we welcome you to volunteer as classroom helpers, homeroom parents and chaperones for class field trips.
Whether you have just an hour to spare or lots of time, we can find a volunteer opportunity that is right for you and will directly benefit our students. We welcome your participation and thank you in advance for helping us to strengthen our Independence Community.
"If I could give new parents a bit of advice when starting at Independence, it would be to get involved, volunteer and get to know the teachers and other parents. The IPA is the place to be! You won't regret a minute of your time spent at the school. I love being there and helping to create the strong family-centered environment. Every time I walk out of the building after some type of volunteering, I'm more thankful that our children are receiving an Independence educational experience."
