Outdoor Learning Days Debut

Outdoor Learning Days Debut

With the completion of the Funk Outdoor Classroom and new opportunities for learning outdoors, Lower School Head Christy Koense developed a pilot program for full days of outdoor learning.

During the spring, every grade in Lower School from Early Childhood through 4th grade experienced an entire school day held outside!

The youngest learners spent their time engaged with all the different areas of the Fund Outdoor Classroom, while the older students ventured to the Great Barn and to Pike Creek for lessons.

As a result of these experiences, we expect to see more full outdoor learning days. The teachers, students, and parent volunteers who supported these pilot days truly enjoyed taking lessons beyond the boundaries of the classroom walls!
