Endowments & Scholarships

Maintaining the distinctive qualities that define The Independence School, and keeping it strong for the future, requires substantial resources. Capital and endowment gifts provide a stable and flexible financial foundation upon which Independence can flourish.

Capital and endowed gifts may be unrestricted or designated by the donor for use in support of specific programs, initiatives, or construction and renovation projects. The Advancement Office collaborates with Independence's alumni, parents, and friends to match their interests with the needs of the School.

Endowment-Supported Programs & Scholarships

Endowments are permanent funds from charitable gifts that offer The Independence School the enduring stability needed to empower generations of students. Donors are welcome to give endowed gifts for specific purposes like creating scholarships, supporting teacher development, starting new programs, or supporting the maintenance of campus resources. Endowment funds are stewarded by the Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees and invested for long-term growth and to support the current year’s annual budget. Independence is committed to offering high-quality, affordable, and accessible education and our endowment helps us achieve this goal.

Other Scholarships & Awards

In addition to the endowed scholarships, there are a number of other scholarships and awards for current students as well as faculty and staff. The Scholarship Committee selects qualified recipients in accordance with established criteria for each scholarship and award.
