Community

Independence is fortunate to be able to welcome a diverse group of involved and passionate students and parents. There are countless options for all to take part in the many aspects of school life.

In addition to engaging classroom experiences, Independence’s vibrant and active community of learners participate in a diverse variety of clubs and activities, ranging from drama to Quiz Bowl. Numerous leadership opportunities exist for students, as well. Becoming a Student Ambassador, joining the Student Government Association and volunteering for community service through the Character Development Program all help to build confident and independent students. Enrichment and fun do not end with the school day, however, as offerings through Extended Day and Summer at Independence keep our campus spirited virtually all year long.

Parents are encouraged to join the Independence Parents’ Association (IPA) as a way to dive in to school life. Volunteer opportunities, social activities (with and without students), and parenting resources and support are all within easy reach for the Independence community.

We hope that you will take this chance to explore all aspects of our school community and keep up-to-date with the latest news, social media feeds, photo galleries and upcoming events.

My years at Independence were a fabulous journey. I thrived in a supportive environment and built independent and unique skills to fit my learning style. The faculty set high standards and inspired me to excel academically. I was encouraged to explore different interests and talents through active participation in many extracurricular activities – athletic teams, student government, music programs, art programs, science teams, and service opportunities – where I learned to lead and work with others to accomplish goals.

I am very proud to say that I am a graduate of Independence. During my high school search, I realized how well respected my school was in the community and how prepared I was for the next academic step. I know that Independence provided me with challenging academics while nurturing me to be an independent thinker. The teachers, activities, and respect of community and service all added to the excellent education I received.
