Physical Education

Promoting and encouraging an active and healthy lifestyle stands as the primary function of the Physical Education program at Independence. In a safe and fun environment, students develop a level of fitness, both mental and physical, that equals or surpasses the national norms for that particular age group. Additionally, students learn to work cooperatively toward common goals and build a sense of sportsmanship and camaraderie while growing in both self-esteem and respect for others in the process. Age-appropriate health instruction also serves as a key component of the Physical Education program.
