At the end of the school year, the 8th grade students are challenged to design and build a car powered solely by a mousetrap, with a goal of traveling at least five meters. This hands-on science project, spanning six to seven class periods, introduces key physics concepts. Students, working alone or in pairs, have a $5 material budget and adhere to strict rules—no additional power sources or modified mousetraps allowed. Following the build, our students put their cars to the test and compete against each other!
