Indy Community Comes Together for the 4th Annual SAM DUNK Tournament

This week, The Independence School community came together to honor classmate and friend Sam Hanna at the 4th annual SAM DUNK 3v3 Basketball Tournament. Sam valued fun, competition, fair play, hard work, integrity, and friendship, and each player showcased those characteristics on the court.

This year, the Samuel John Hanna ‘24 Memorial Fund scholarship was awarded at the event to rising 7th grader Ibbie, who exemplifies Sam’s wonderful character and connection to others.

Special thanks to Mrs. Horsey and Mr. Motta for organizing such an inspiring event! We are also grateful to the faculty and staff who contributed concessions and volunteered their time, the Fraser family for generously sponsoring the participant shirts, and the many parents, spectators, and alumni who came out to support the event. Most of all, thank you to the middle school athletes and the faculty teams, who brought great energy and sportsmanship to the tournament.

Congratulations to these winning teams!

5th & 6th Grade Boys: Nicholas, Dylan, and Henry

7th & 8th Grade Girls: Libby, Layaan, and Elise
