Independence Alum Completes Eagle Scout Project on Campus

Over the summer, as part of his Eagle Scout project, DJ Martin '24 chose to revamp the baseball dugouts on Independence's campus. Looking back on his time in the athletics program following graduation, DJ saw an opportunity to enhance the facilities and reimagine the space for future student-athletes.

Thanks to an anonymous donor, new fencing was installed around the baseball field, including the creation of a proper dugout area. DJ then led a team of family, friends, and fellow Scouts (including several Independence alumni) to construct new benches and install a durable gravel floor.

Reflecting on his achievement, DJ shared, "The Eagle Scout rank is the ultimate culmination of the dedication and perseverance I have demonstrated along my 10-year journey," adding that the experience introduced him to amazing, like-minded people who share his passion for Scouting.

We thank DJ, and all those involved, for giving back to Independence through his Eagle Scout project, and we know that our baseball players will appreciate these improved facilities for years to come.
