Hoops, Heart, and Honor at the 3rd Annual SAM DUNK Tournament

On Monday, March 10, The Independence School community came together to honor classmate and friend Sam Hanna in the 3rd annual "SAM DUNK 3v3 Basketball Tournament." Sam valued fun, competition, fair play, hard work, integrity, and friendship, and each player embodied these characteristics on the court.

This year, the Samuel John Hanna ‘24 Memorial Fund scholarship was awarded at the event to rising 7th grader Patrick, who exemplifies Sam’s wonderful character and connection to others.

Special thanks to Mrs. Horsey and Mr. Motta for organizing such an inspiring event! Thank you, as well, to the faculty members who volunteered their time, the parents and spectators for supporting our middle school athletes, and, of course, the teams who participated.

Congratulations to these winning teams!

5th & 6th Grade Girls: Emery, Colette, and Vanessa
5th & 6th Grade Boys: Max, Lincoln, and Henry

7th & 8th Grade Girls: Lauren, Landyn, and Lexi

All proceeds from the tournament benefit the scholarship established in Sam’s name.
