French Students Explore the Thrills of Amusement Parks

When you think of French class, you might picture verbs and vocabulary lists, not roller coasters! But for Independence’s 8th graders, a recent project blended both in an unexpected way.

In this lively project, students teamed up to research amusement parks in France, Belgium, Morocco, and Vietnam—all Francophone countries with their own unique twists on theme park fun. Each pair selected one or two parks they would most like to visit, discovering details such as location, admission cost, and signature rides. Their findings were displayed last week in class as colorful poster boards, complete with park descriptions, maps, and photos.

The project challenged students to manage their time wisely and dig into French-language resources, but it also sparked curiosity about how culture and entertainment connect across borders. What began as a language assignment quickly became a window into how joy and adventure transcend borders.
