Girls on the Run: Confidence in Motion

On Sunday, November 23, fourteen athletes from Independence’s Girls on the Run team, along with their coaches, completed their season-ending 5K in Dover, Delaware.

Girls on the Run empowers participants of all abilities to build confidence, strengthen life skills, and experience the support of a close-knit team. Volunteer coaches lead lessons that pair physical activity with topics like managing emotions, fostering friendships, and showing empathy. Special thanks to coaches Liz Croft, Demri Greggo, and Alexa Raab for their dedication to the team this fall!

Each season also includes a Community Impact Project, giving the girls a hands-on way to make a difference. This season, they created and posted sheets of positive messages in public spaces as small reminders meant to spark confidence and inspire others. Congratulations to the team on another successful season and to all who participated in the 5k!
