On Thursday morning, the 48 members of the Class of 2026 gathered for the beloved 8th Grade Breakfast, where they were officially welcomed as the school's newest alumni. Following opening remarks from Mr. Costello, the tradition continued with a heartfelt address from a special guest closely connected to the class: Melanie Merritt (mother of student Lucy), a proud Independence alumna. During the celebration, students received their yearbooks, shared plenty of laughs, and enjoyed a delicious breakfast together.
Later that evening, following a high-energy Field Day, the 8th graders returned to campus for a special "Lock-In" event. Complete with games, team-building activities, and a sunrise hike on the morning of their final day of middle school, the Class of 2026 spent the night bonding and celebrating their journey.
With Graduation on Monday, this remarkable group is ready to soar!
