Building Character Through Kindness

This week, our middle school Character Development Program (CDP) groups participated in a meaningful project with Blankets of Hope, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping students practice empathy and kindness. The organization provides blankets, along with handwritten student letters, to individuals experiencing homelessness across the United States.

During their CDP time, all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders gathered in the auditorium for a "Kindness Workshop," where they heard from Blankets of Hope co-founders Mike and Nick Fiorito. Each student then wrote a personalized note on a card and tied it to a folded blanket. At the end of the week, Mrs. Walsh and Mrs. Hayes will deliver the blankets to the Friendship House for the Wilmington Empowerment Center. What a meaningful way for our students to put our core values of respect, responsibility, and integrity into action!
