On the Monday before Thanksgiving, Independence welcomed more than 80 guests to campus for our Fall Alumni Social & Awards Presentation, an annual event that brings together graduates, families, and faculty to reconnect and reminisce. Student Ambassadors also led tours, giving alumni an inside look at what’s new at Indy.

During the program, we recognized this year’s award recipients: Rising Star Alums Hita Kambhamettu ’14 and Alexandra Mavridis ’17, and Outstanding Alum Peggy Willis Courtney ’85, each honored for demonstrating leadership or accomplishments in their fields.

This year also marked the debut of the Legacy Award, created by the Alumni Council to honor a current or former faculty or staff member whose compassion, guidance, and dedication have left a lasting impact on students and the school community. Congratulations to Lee Fullmer, Facilities Manager since 1993, and Judy Holton, Middle School English Teacher from 1986 to 2005.
