4th Graders Travel Back to the Middle Ages

Recently, the 4th graders stepped back in time as they learned about life during the Middle Ages. The unit kicked off with an exciting surprise: Mrs. Saggese and Ms. Gilmore arrived at school dressed as knights! Students joined in the fun by creating their own crowns, setting the stage for an exciting journey.

As learning continued, students dove into Gothic architecture, studying the stunning details of rose windows before designing colorful stained-glass creations of their own. In Mr. Cloud’s Pathfinders in STEM class, the 4th graders built cardboard castles, highlighting key features of historic buildings through hands-on design and engineering. These activities blended history, art, and creativity while deepening students’ understanding of the era.

The unit concluded with a celebration fit for royalty! Students participated in a spirited jousting tournament, collaborated to build castles using the big blue blocks, and designed personalized family crests inspired by medieval symbols and values.
