April 30, 2019 e-Newsletter Competing on Grand Stages Over the past week, two Independence middle schoolers took their talents to the national and world stages in their respective activities.
Seventh grader Varun placed fourth out of 323 competitors in his section (K-8 Under 750) at the U.S. Chess Federation's 2019 National Junior High Championship in Grapevine, Texas. Varun finished undefeated through seven rounds with six wins and one draw.
