The Joy of Giving

Dear Independence families and friends,

The holiday season is upon us. Over the last two weeks, our school choirs, bands and orchestras have helped ring in the holiday spirit for us.

"Christmas is the spirit of giving without a thought of getting. It is happiness because we see joy in people. It is forgetting self and finding time for others. It is discarding the meaningless and stressing the true values."

-- Thomas S. Monson

As a school, we reflect these values. Through our SGA-sponsored "ugly holiday sweater" dress-down day, we have just collected and donated $2,058 to pay it forward by paying down layaways at our local Kmart. Thank you all for your generous support and your spirit of giving. It feels good to know that we will make a difference in the lives of people in our community this holiday season.

No matter which year-end holidays you celebrate, we all take time off and are able to relax, reflect and count our blessings. Helen Keller stated that the best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.

With that in mind, may peace be your gift this holiday season and your blessing all year through.

With holiday spirit,

Head of School

We are very excited to present our new 360° Virtual Campus Tour to you! Please enjoy, and be sure to share with friends so they can get an inside look at Independence. Thanks to our students and faculty for helping to create the fun 360° photos. Click here or on the graphic above to check it out!

We are so grateful to the many parents who have already given to the Annual Fund this year. Money raised from the Annual Fund benefits each and every student by supporting all of the "extras" that make an Independence education truly exceptional.

Strong parent giving participation also sends a positive message to the philanthropic foundations that we are approaching for funding exciting projects such as our proposed outdoor classroom.

If you have already given this school year, THANK YOU! If you haven't given yet, there is still time. You can make a tax-deductible gift to the Annual Fund by clicking here or by mailing a check (Attn: Development Office).

On behalf of all of our students and faculty, THANK YOU!
