Real-world Science at Stroud

Image

On October 19th, our seventh grade scientists visited the Stream School at the Stroud Water Research Center in Avondale, PA. Students experienced hands-on science in an outdoor living laboratory as they put on rain boots and climbed into the stream to collect organisms. They used dissecting microscopes in the indoor lab to analyze and classify the organisms they had collected. In addition to learning about the biology of the stream, students also conducted a full chemical analysis of the water in an outdoor laboratory setting, learning that stream health is a lot more than just seeing clear water.  We are fortunate to have a partnership with Stroud for these engaging, experiential learning opportunities both on and off our campus. https://stroudcenter.org/education/school-programs/
