CELEBRATING PATRIOT PRIDE

Image

On Jan. 11, our fifth through eighth graders gathered in the gym with faculty and staff members for the Winter Sports Pep Rally. Students participated in a variety of games and activities that challenged them both athletically and academically. That afternoon, the girls' basketball team capped off a great day for Patriot sports by dramatically earning its first victory of the season in front of an enthusiastic home crowd. Special thanks to Mrs. Horsey and Mrs. Kacmarcik for organizing and running the pep rally!

SAVE THE DATE

The Admission Office is hosting a series of Information Sessions for parents interested in learning about our program. The next one, focusing on Middle School (5th-8th grade), will take place next Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 8:30 a.m. Newly added dates can be found here. Please help us spread the word.

CPR CLASS OFFERED

February is American Heart Month, and we can't think of a better time of the year to learn how to perform potentially life-saving Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Tri-State Training and Consulting will come to Independence and teach CPR to our parents on Thursday, Feb. 2, from 6:30-8 p.m. The cost will be $50 per person. In order for Tri-State to provide this service, a minimum of 10 participants (adults only) is needed. If you are interested, please email Denise Axe, school nurse, by this Wednesday, Jan. 18. Once Mrs. Axe has the required 10 participants, more information will follow on registering for the class.

ENGINEERS TEACHING ALGEBRA

Engineer Mark Love and his "Engineers Teaching Algebra" program returned to Independence on Thursday, Jan. 5, for eighth graders in Mrs. Finocchiaro and Mrs. Kacmarcik's classes. Founded by Mr. Love in 1994, "Engineers Teaching Algebra" includes a 90-minute session that uses math in real-life, hands-on experiences and promotes STEM education in the process.

Please see below for the forms, which are due by this Friday, Jan. 20.

These forms can also be found in the new IPA section of the Parent Portal.
