Our Campus

The Independence School is located on the beautiful Pike Creek campus of approximately 90 acres of woodland and nature areas.
We are situated between Newark and Hockessin, Delaware, convenient to Wilmington as well as nearby Pennsylvania and Maryland communities.
The expansive property provides exceptional opportunities for outdoor learning experiences, with two ponds, woodlands, and the Pike Creek and tributary flowing through the campus. The campus is home to one of the oldest stone barn structures in Delaware which is used by classes of all grade levels as an inspiring space in which to learn and play. Two specific areas are designated as outdoor classrooms, The Gore Outdoor Classroom and Conservancy, a wooded wetlands area, and the Funk Outdoor Classroom, adjacent to the Early Childhood wing of the building.
