Music at The Independence School

Because we live in a diverse, global society, it is important that students expand their music experiences to include understanding of not only their own culture, but also the cultures of others within their community.

The Independence School provides sequential activities through concentration on concepts that relate to elements of music – rhythm, melody, harmony, form, dynamics, tempo, tone and color. Listening to, analyzing, and evaluating music are important building blocks of musical learning.
