Scholarship and Special Funds
What are Special Funds and How Are Those Donations Used?
Special Funds also offer ways in which to accomplish the goals of the donor and the goals of the school. Some restricted endowed gifts might be donor-directed to any one of several Memorial Scholarship Funds created to honor the memory and ideals of those close to the Independence family and to recognize students who reflect those ideals.
Currently four memorial student recognition funds exist: The William Braune Athletic Scholarships; the Jack DiMaio Memorial Scholarships, the Anne G. Hurt Memorial Scholarships, and the Margaret C. and William H. Cantwell Award for Musical Excellence. Additionally, the Marsh Wiltbank Uebler Scholarships is an endowed Fund to honor a current friend of Independence through two annual scholarships for fourth grade students.
Awards such as The Patricia A. Ireland Faculty Award, have been established to honor Mrs. Ireland, as an endowed fund that annually recognizes an exceptional member of the faculty. The Linda Ellison Stapleford Science Service Award is an endowed award presented annually to a student for voluntary service to the science department.
For further information, guidelines or giving opportunities to these or other funds, please contact the Development Office.
