Opportunities to Volunteer
Independence offers many opportunities to volunteer and participate and become part of the Independence spirit. Over 90% of our parents do. Parents and grandparents can be active as classroom helpers and field trip chaperones; each student homeroom seeks Homeroom Parents every September to work with the teacher throughout the year and to help organize the May Fair Homeroom game. The Independence Parents' Association, the biennial Auction at Independence, the off-year adult social, the Rita and Jim Kearns Independence Classic, and committee service are all ways in which to be involved and active as members of the Independence family.

Spring Adult Special Event, Auction at Independence
The Auction at Independence is a biennial event with many opportunities for volunteers of many talents, varying time and skills, and experience. This theme-oriented traditional fund and friend raiser generates enthusiasm and spirit throughout the year, culminating in a March 11, 2006 extravaganza of fun, friendship and school support.
The off-year Spring Social takes many forms. Volunteers and development staff work together to develop an evening event that chases the mid-winter doldrums and celebrates the spirit of Independence. The next Social will be March 2007 and volunteers are welcome. -
