SCHOLARLY STUDENTS
Congratulations to the 24 Independence eighth graders (including those not pictured above) who have been awarded scholarships to Archmere Academy for next year! Many of them attended Archmere's Scholarship Dinner on Jan. 10, along with their faculty guests. We look forward to sharing the news of additional scholarships and awards from other high schools for this fine class!

Admission Information Sessions
The Admission Office is hosting a series of Information Sessions for parents interested in learning about our program. The next one, focusing on Middle School (grades 5-8), will take place tomorrow, Thursday, Jan. 18, at 8:30 a.m. Please help us spread the word. All dates can be found here.
40 Things to Love about Independence
Independence will be celebrating its 40th Anniversary throughout the 2017-18 school year. As part of that celebration, we will highlight, in chronological order, 40 points of pride for our students, our families and the Independence community as a whole.
13. Middle School Dances
Nothing says middle school quite like a dance! Our sixth- through eighth-grade students relish the opportunity to have fun and hang out with all of their friends outside of a normal school-day setting. While the music played has changed over the course of Independence's 40 years, one thing certainly has not: our students make some of their most cherished grade school memories at "the dance!"

HONORED FOR ARTWORK
Congratulations to the following pair of students who received Honorable Mention recognition in the 2018 Delaware Regional Scholastic Art Awards program: eighth grader Madhuram Sundararajan for two photography pieces (On the Pond, Light Bending) and seventh grader Mia Gattuso for printmaking (Dusk Till Dawn). The contest is open to all 7th-12th graders attending Delaware schools.
