Middle School Math Teacher
The Independence School is seeking a middle school math teacher to teach 6th through 8th grade level math classes. Knowledge and skill in teaching pre-algebra to geometry is required. We are seeking an experienced, high-energy teacher with a passion for math who enjoys working with students at the middle school level and working with colleagues to deliver a high quality curriculum. Ability to incorporate 21st century skills including effective use of technology in a one-to-one environment and a knowledge of project based learning would be assets. Candidate should be interested in operating across curriculum areas to provide strong STEM experiences. The Independence School is seeking an administrative professional with strong data base, organizational, and communication skills to join its Enrollment Management team. As one of the first contacts for prospective families, the Admission Coordinator must offer a warm and welcoming presence to potential parents and students. He/she provides informative school tours, schedules student assessment and visit appointments, and works closely with the Director of Admission, Director of Enrollment & Marketing, Heads of Division, faculty and other staff. Flexibility and the ability to collaborate with others is essential in this dynamic school environment.
Proficiency in data base use, including queries and reports, is required as the Admission Coordinator has responsibility for tracking the status of applications and related files; developing enrollment reports and other statistical information as requested by the Director of Admission and others. The Coordinator also manages the online process for re-enrollment of returning students, and tracks attrition/other related information. He/she provides administrative support including, but not limited to: maintaining filing systems, producing/mailing letters, preparing admission packets, and printing.
The Admission Coordinator must have a positive, team-oriented approach, and demonstrate attention to detail, confidentiality, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. He/she must have a sincere interest in elementary education, the value of an independent school experience, and must be willing to learn the specific value-proposition of an Independence education. This is a full-time, 12-month position, including occasional special events, and some evenings and weekends.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
Database experience (data entry, query, reporting)
Ability to manage multiple priorities

The Independence School seeks a van driver to transport students to school every day, Mondays through Fridays (school schedule to be provided); with the expectation to have students arrive on campus by 7:45 a.m. each morning. Students will be traveling from north Wilmington to Pike Creek. Proposed van stops include two locations in north Wilmington (Rte. 202) and one location in Greenville (Rte. 52).
This is a part time job, averaging about 10-15 hours each week. This is a perfect job for a retiree who likes to drive, loves kids, and would like to make some extra money. No special driving license is required but we do require a clean background check and driving record. The Independence School vehicles are standard 11-seat passenger vans.
